1st OA Information Exchange microgrants awarded!
August 5, 2020
By Julianna Mullen
Earlier this year the OA Information Exchange launched a microgrant funding program whereby any member of the site could submit short proposals for projects that would both advance the mission of our community and facilitate work on ocean acidification. We're pleased to announce that in late July the first grants were finally awarded to two amazing projects:
The Chugach Regional Resources Commission, along with their partners, are using their funds to create educational videos that can be used to help inform native Alaskan communities about the threat OA poses to local wild shellfish populations.
The Gullah/Geechee Sea Island Coalition, located in South Carolina, is using their funds to create infographics and a video explaining the concepts of OA, climate change, and sea level rise. The materials can be used by educators to reach students who live in areas that are particularly vulnerable to the effects of OA and climate change.
We're looking forward to seeing the fruits of these projects and the positive impact they have on both their local communities and the OA Information Exchange.
We anticipate awarding additional microgrants in future months, so if you are not yet a member, sign up to become eligible!
