Scope of activities

The vision of the UN Ocean Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development is "the science we need for the ocean we want". The Decade will provide a "once in a lifetime" opportunity to create a new foundation, across the science-policy interface, to strengthen the management of our oceans and coasts for the benefit of humanity. The Ocean Decade provides a convening framework for scientists and stakeholders from diverse sectors to develop the scientific knowledge and the partnerships needed to accelerate and harness advances in ocean science to achieve a better understanding of the ocean system, and deliver science-based solutions to achieve the 2030 Agenda. In this Team, we will share updates, milestones and opportunities for the OARS Programme. This Team is for all those wishing to learn more about the GOA-ON Decade Programme OARS and especially for those wanting to get involved, to lead efforts to achieve the OARS outcomes and to actively contribute to the programme. We look forward to a productive dialogue, an exchange of ideas and invite you all to join the OARS Team.
