Mid Atlantic

Focuses on coastal and ocean acidification in the waters south of Long Island, including the coastal waters of New York, New Jersey, Maryland, Delaware, and Virginia.

Scope of activities

The Mid-Atlantic team is aligned with the Mid-Atlantic Coastal Acidification Network (MACAN). MACAN’s priorities include developing a better understanding of the processes associated with estuarine, coastal, and ocean acidification in the Mid-Atlantic, with a particular focus on densely populated coastal communities where economically valuable shellfish and migratory fish habitats are deeply impacted by acidification.
